What is
RoboBuggy®?

RoboBuggy® is a developing interactive technology and gaming concept that combines digital games, cutting-edge technology, and physical RoboBuggy® development.

Across four distinct environments — Air, Land, Sea and Space! — RoboBuggy® challenges players to explore, compete, and master each unique environment through interactive gameplay and technology-driven experiences.

Built for the next generation of interactive entertainment and technology training, RoboBuggy® is where digital play meets real-world innovation. Each environment represents a different frontier of robotic exploration and challenge.

Whether you're piloting through aerial corridors, tearing across rugged terrain, or diving into the deep, RoboBuggy® delivers a futuristic platform that grows with its players and technology.

Our Mission

Movement with Purpose

RoboBuggy® is exploring a new generation of intelligent transport solutions that combine practical movement with rehabilitation and independence.

Our future development plans begin with compact electrically powered buggies designed to transport everyday items and equipment, while also exploring how the vehicle itself can become part of neurorehabilitation through adapted joystick, touchscreen and movement-based controls.

We plan to develop and test increasingly sophisticated prototypes incorporating measurable rehabilitation challenges, obstacle detection and assisted navigation, with a longer-term vision of creating smart robotic transport systems that can support people in care, rehabilitation and everyday environments.

For RoboBuggy®, transportation is not simply about moving something from A to B — it is about using movement with purpose.

Accessibility & Inclusion

RoboBuggy® starts fun, engaging and accessible digital games and activities designed with different brains and abilities in mind.

Our growing range explores:

  • 🎮Fun and accessible games
  • 🧠Cognition supporting tools
  • 🎯Attention, focus and reaction challenges
  • 👀Visual tracking and processing activities
  • 🤲Coordination and movement-based games
  • 😊Enjoyable activities that encourage participation and practice

We believe that skill-building doesn't always have to feel clinical. Games can provide an enjoyable way to practise attention, movement, coordination and cognitive skills while keeping people motivated and engaged.

RoboBuggy® is developing new ideas and experimenting with accessible technology for autistic people and anybody seeking to improve their cognitive and physical skills.

Follow the RoboBuggy® journey as we build, test and develop new games and tools.

Settings & Metrics

RoboBuggy® – Multiple Game Setting Options & Valuable Performance Metrics

The extensive range of adjustable settings available across RoboBuggy games allows each activity to be customised to the individual's abilities and needs at the time, with difficulty, speed, the game screen being used, targets and other gameplay features adapted as appropriate, ensuring that activities remain accessible, achievable and appropriately challenging as abilities change or improve.

Adjustable Visual Scanning Area: Some games can be configured to use the central, middle or entire screen, allowing the visual search area to be progressively expanded according to the player's abilities. This enables activities to be tailored to individual visual attention, scanning and spatial awareness capabilities, with the potential to encourage wider visual exploration, particularly relevant to individuals undergoing neurorehabilitation following acquired brain injury or stroke.

More than just games — RoboBuggy combines accessible, engaging gameplay with meaningful performance metrics that can not only help track progress over time but also provide excellent motivation to drive forward.

RoboBuggy games are designed for people with a wide range of abilities, including individuals with learning disabilities, autism, acquired brain injuries and physical or cognitive challenges.

Depending on the game, a range of useful metrics can be recorded, including:

  • Reaction Time: How quickly a player responds to a visual stimulus, providing insights into response speed and processing.
  • Accuracy: How precisely a player selects, touches or reaches towards a target.
  • Movement and Reach: The extent and direction of movements, helping to monitor reaching ability, coordination and control.
  • Success Rates: The proportion of successful actions compared with unsuccessful attempts.
  • Errors and Missed Targets: Helping identify difficulties with attention, timing, coordination or task execution.
  • Task Completion Time: How long a player takes to complete an activity, providing an indication of speed and efficiency.
  • Consistency: How reliably a player performs across repeated attempts and sessions.
  • Scores and Performance Trends: Graphs and recorded results allow performance to be compared across sessions, helping to highlight improvements, fluctuations or areas requiring further practice.

Why Are These Metrics Important?

For Adaptive Gaming

  • RoboBuggy makes gaming more accessible through touchscreen interaction, adaptable controls and adjustable difficulty settings.
  • Performance metrics allow activities to be tailored to individual abilities, helping players experience success while introducing appropriate challenges.
  • This can encourage motivation, engagement, confidence and continued participation.

For Neurorehabilitation

For individuals recovering from stroke, traumatic brain injury or other acquired brain injuries, RoboBuggy offers opportunities to practise skills relevant to rehabilitation, including:

  • Hand-eye coordination and purposeful upper-limb movement.
  • Visual attention, concentration and response speed.
  • Movement planning and motor control.
  • Decision-making and cognitive flexibility.
  • Sustained attention and task persistence.

By comparing performance across repeated sessions, practitioners and support staff can observe changes, adjust activities and identify areas for further development.

These measurements may also complement wider rehabilitation assessments and help inform individual goals.

Turning Gameplay into Meaningful Information

One of RoboBuggy's most valuable features is the ability to make performance visible.

Rather than simply knowing that someone has played a game, we can examine how they played, how accurately they responded, how quickly they reacted and how their performance has changed over time.

Although game-based metrics are not clinical diagnostic measures and improvements in gameplay do not automatically translate into everyday functional improvements, they can provide useful objective information to support structured practice and monitor progress.
